All one needs to do to know what’s going on at Pioneer Clubs is to walk the downstairs halls of GPC on any given Wednesday evening from October through March and use all five senses:
YOU WILL HEAR… the laughter of more than 110 kids, age 3–grade 6, as they excitedly find their classes; children reciting their Bible verses; teachers sharing practical ways to live out what they’ve memorized; preschool classes singing together and boys catching their breath as they return from the Factory.
YOU MIGHT SMELL… Pizza baking, cookies baking….or, the sneakers the 1st and 2nd grade girls are collecting from all Club members for a local school with children in need.
YOU MIGHT SEE… girls learning how to use a needle and thread; a collection box of practical items for Factory families around Thanksgiving time; younger girls arriving in their pajamas as they enjoy a reward for consistently bringing their Bibles and saying their verses or Bruce Zurbrick with animal traps in hand, ready to teach a class of boys about how Satan also tries to trap us in sin so they must stand up against temptation.
YOU MIGHT TASTE…. An ice cream sundae made by a 1st or 2nd grade girl, if she’s remembered her lesson on sharing.
YOU MIGHT FEEL… a hug from a child who is glad for the friends she’s made at Clubs and the love she feels from her leaders. You will definitely feel God’s presence as He continually blesses us with the opportunity to reach these children with His Holy Word in a way that speaks to these great kids!
Our special events this year were the Bible Olympics on January 27 where kids learned a Bible verse at each event which was fashioned after the Winter Olympics. On the same night, the preschool classes were upstairs praising Jesus during a Puppet Show. On February 27, we held the Jeremiah D. Eisenhower Memorial Pinewood Derby at Paradise Bible Fellowship Church. Jeremiah was a repeat champion of our Pioneer Clubs Pinewood Derby and helped release the cars on the track in his adult years. We lost Jeremiah in a car accident in January of 2009. We are deeply grateful to Dave and Deb Eisenhower and the Jeremiah D. Eisenhower Memorial Foundation for funding all the costs for this year’s derby in honor of Jeremiah. Our Closing Program was on March 31st, when we wrapped up the year.
